Yin and yang

Yin and yang, two principles in Chinese philosophy, representing the passive and the active forces of the universe. Yin stands for earth, female, passive, dark, and receiving; yang, for heaven, male, active, light, and generative. All things exist through their interaction. The symbol for yin-yang is a circle divided into 2 curved forms, one dark, the other light.
