Yellowstone National Park



Yellowstone National Park, oldest and largest U.S. national park, created in 1872 and covering 3,472 sq mi (8,992 sq km), mostly in northwestern Wyoming. It contains some of the most spectacular wonders in the United States, including Old Faithful geyser, thousands of hot springs and mud pools, petrified forests, black grass cliffs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Wildlife abounds in the forests covering most of the park.
