Yamasee

Yamasee, Native Americans of the Muskogean language family. Living in southern Georgia and northern Florida, they were driven into South Carolina by the Spanish (1687) and back into Florida (1715) by the British, who in 1727 destroyed their village near St. Augustine. The survivors eventually assimilated with the Seminole and Creek.
