Wuhan (pop. 3,750,000), city in east-central China comprised of the former cities of Hankou, Hanyang, and Wuchang. Located at the confluence of the Yangtze and Han rivers, Wuhan is a major commercial, transportation, and industrial (iron and steel production) center.
