Wormwood



Wormwood, group of herbs and shrubs in the composite family, found chiefly in arid regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Wormwood is grown commercially to provide an essential oil that has a variety of medicinal uses. The leaves of another type of wormwood, tarragon, is used as a seasoning. Common wormwood, or mugwort, is used in medicines and in the manufacture of absinthe.
