Worm



Worm, term used for any elongate, cylindrical invertebrate, such as the earthworm, roundworm, hairworm, or acorn worm. The word has no taxonomic validity; animals commonly referred to as worms belong to many related phyla: Chordata, Annelida, and Platyhelminthes. However, the term is sometimes restricted to the phylum Annelida.
