John Wooden



Wooden, John (1910– ), U.S. basketball player and coach. Between 1964–75, he led the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) to an unprecedented 10 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships, including a record 7 straight titles (1967–73) and an 88-game winning streak (1971–74). Wooden coached at Indiana State (1947–48) and UCLA (1949–75), compiling 664 career wins. A former star basketball player at the University of Purdue, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1960 as both a player and a coach.
