Windsor

Windsor (pop. 262,100), city in southern Ontario, Canada, on the opposite bank of the Detroit River from Detroit, Mich. Like Detroit, Windsor is an important automotive manufacturing center. Originally inhabited by the Huron and Iroquois tribes, it was settled by the French (early 18th century) and later the English (1790s). In its early days a ferry connected the cities of Windsor and Detroit, whereas a bridge and tunnel connect them today.
