Westminster Hall

Westminster Hall, building that serves as an entranceway to Britain's House of Parliament (Westminster Palace) in London. Westminster Palace was the royal residence before it became the home of Parliament (16th century), and the rulers of Britain held court in its Great Hall. Westminster Hall is all that remains of the Great Hall, which was built in the late 11th century but mostly destroyed by German fire bombs during World War II. Westminster Hall measures 240 ft (73 m) long, 68 ft (21 m) wide, and 89 ft (27 m) high.
