Leonard Weisgard

Weisgard, Leonard (1916– ), U.S. artist and children's book writer and illustrator. He illustrated over 20 books by Margaret Wise Brown (pseud. Golden MacDonald), including The Little Island, for which he won the 1946 Caldecott Medal. Among the books he both wrote and illustrated are My First Picture Book (1953) and The Plymouth Thanksgiving (1967).
