Wapiti

Wapiti (Cervus canadensis), North American subspecies of the red deer, called elk in the United States. It is larger than the typical European red deer, and, unlike the red deer, the terminal points of its antlers are in the same plane as the beam and do not form a crown. Once the most abundant deer in North America, wapiti are now severely reduced in number and range.
