Wang Wei

Wang Wei (699–759), Chinese poet, landscape painter, and calligrapher of the T'ang dynasty (618–907). Wang Wei is credited with the creation of the broken ink (p'o-mo) method of wash brushstrokes, and was a master of monochromatic landscape paintings, particularly snowscapes. The lyric poetry of Wang Wei often related nature's attributes. He was revered in later years, probably for uniting poetry, painting, and calligraphy in a single art form.
