Izaak Walton



Walton, Izaak (1593–1683), English writer. His famous The Compleat Angler (1653), written as a dialogue between a fisherman, Piscator, and a hunter, Venator, combines praise for simple living with sound advice on the sport of fishing. His biographies include John Donne (1640), Sir Henry Wotton (1651), George Herbert (1670), and Bishop Sanderson (1678).
