Wallboard



Wallboard, fibrous building material made in rigid sheets and used to cover walls and ceilings for temperature and sound insulation, fire protection, and decoration. Types of wallboard include fiberboard, made of compressed cane or wood fibers; hardboard, a denser, more compressed board of similar composition; and plasterboard, used in building as a substitute for plaster, made of heavy paper, fiberboard, or other material bonded to a gypsum core.
