Édouard Vuillard

Vuillard, Édouard (1868–1940), French painter, printmaker, and decorator who, along with his friend Pierre Bonnard, developed the intimist style of painting. His subjects were scenes from his private world, chiefly domestic scenes from his mother's home. Vuillard received commissions to do decorative works also. He painted the foyer of the Théatre des Champs-Elysées (1913) and the murals in the Palais de Chaillob (1937) and the League of Nations, Geneva (1939).
