Volapük

Volapük, universal language created in 1879 by Johann Martin Schleyer, a German priest. It combined elements of English, German, Latin, French, and Italian. It proved difficult to learn because of the unfamiliar appearance of the words and its grammatical complexity. Few people speak Volapük today.
