Vocational education



Vocational education, courses of study that prepare students for a range of occupations that do not require baccalaureate or higher degrees, in areas such as agriculture, business, trades, industry, health services, home economics, and various technical fields. Instruction takes place in high schools, trade schools, community colleges, and correspondence schools and through formal apprenticeship programs and on-the-job training. Many vocational education programs have been funded by the U.S. government.
