Frederick Moore Vinson



Vinson, Frederick Moore (1890–1953), chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1946–53). A Kentucky Democrat, he was a member of the House of Representatives (1923–9, 1931–7) and secretary of the treasury (1945–6). While he was chief justice, the Supreme Court made important civil liberty rulings.
