Victoria Falls



Victoria Falls, waterfall on the Zambesi River in south-central Africa between Zimbabwe and Zambia, where the 1-mi- (1-km-) wide river plunges 400 ft (122 m) into a narrow fissure. The falls were named for Britain's Queen Victoria by the explorer David Livingston in 1855.
