Veterinary medicine

Veterinary medicine, medical care of sick animals, sometimes including the delivery of their young. It is practiced separately from human medicine since animal diseases differ largely from those affecting humans. Veterinarians treat domestic, farm, sport, and zoo animals. General medical advances—e.g., in vaccines and antibiotics—have been aided by veterinary research.
