Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States



Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW), one of the largest veterans' organizations in the United States. It assists needy veterans and their families, fosters patriotism, promotes community service, and lobbies for legislation. The VFW was formed in 1913. There are some 2.1 million members in about 9,800 local posts. Officers and enlisted men and women on active duty or honorably discharged, who have fought in any foreign military campaign of the United States, are eligible to join the VFW.
