Venus

Venus, in Roman mythology, goddess of love and beauty. Originally a minor deity associated with gardens, fruits, and flowers, Venus was adopted by Latin soldiers (c.217 B.C.) who enlarged her image to symbolize the life force. Venus was closely identified with the Greek Aphrodite. The Julii family, ancestors of Julius Caesar, were her priests.
