Hugo Van der Goes



Van der Goes, Hugo (1440?–82), Flemish painter of religious subjects. He was influenced by Jan van Eyck and Rogier van der Weyden. Among his works are the Portinari Altarpiece (c. 1476) and Death of the Virgin (c.1480).
