Paul Valéry



Valéry, Paul (1871–1945), French poet, essayist, and critic. His early verse, Album de Vers Anciens (1920), was influenced by Stéphane Mallarmé. His best-known works are La Jeune Parque (1917) and Le Cimetière Marin (1920). He wrote on poetry in Monsieur Tetse (1896) and also on philosophical and critical themes.
