Valentinian III

Valentinian III (A.D. 419–455), Roman emperor 425–455. Though declared emperor at the age of 6; he never ruled the empire in his own right, since political power was wielded in his youth by his mother, Galla Placidia, and later by the patrician Flavius Aëtius. The invasion of the Vandals and Huns occurred during his reign. Hostilities between Valentinian and Aëtius led to the murder of Aëtius by Valentinian (454), who was himself murdered the following year.
