Leon Uris



Uris, Leon (1924– ), U.S. author of modern historical fiction. His most famous novel, Exodus (1958), follows the development of the state of Israel. His first novel, Battle Cry (1953), is a personalized account of service in the Marine Corps during World War II. Other works include QB VII (1970), Trinity (1976), and Mitla Pass (1988). Uris, in collaboration with his wife, Jill, has also written two photoessays, Ireland: A Terrible Beauty (1975) and Jerusalem: Song of Songs (1981).
