Ural Mountains



Ural Mountains, mountain chain about 1,500 mi (2,400 km) long in western Russia, running north-south from the Kara Sea toward the Caspian. The Urals are the traditional boundary between Europe and Asia. Mt. Narodnaya (6,214 ft/1,894 m), in the northern section, is the highest peak. The Urals are heavily forested and rich in minerals.
