Eugene Upshaw Jr.



Upshaw, Eugene, Jr. (1945– ), U.S. football player. Upshaw played for the Oakland Raiders (1967–81) and was captain of the team (1970–81). Upon retirement as an active player, he became president of the National Football League Players' Association (1981–83). He was appointed to executive director in 1984 and supported the players in the football strike of 1987. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
