John Unitas



Unitas, John (1933– ), U.S. football player. A quarterback known for his accurate passing, he threw at least one touchdown pass in 47 consecutive National Football League (NFL) games. His achievements include 40,239 career passing yards (third on the all time list) and 253 career touchdown passes (second on the all time list). He played for the Baltimore Colts (1956–1973), winning 2 world championships (1958, 59) and 1 Super Bowl (1971). He finished his career with the San Diego Chargers (1974) and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
