Ulcer



Ulcer, pathological defect in skin or mucous membrane caused by inflammation due to infection, loss of blood supply, failure of venous circulation, or cancer. Peptic, gastric, and duodenal ulcers may cause pain or acute hemorrhage, and may lead to perforation and peritonitis. Antacids usually provide effective treatment.
