Ugarit

Ugarit, ancient capital city of the Ugarit Kingdom of northwestern Syria, discovered in 1929 by French archeologists. Settled in the 5th millennium B.C., it flourished in the 15th and 14th centuries B.C. Numerous cuneiform tablets have revealed much information about the Ugarit language, related to biblical Hebrew.
