Tussock moth



Tussock moth, type of moth belonging to the Lymantriidae family. Caterpillars of the species have brightly colored hair, but adults are whitish-gray in color. Some varieties, such as the gypsy moth, were brought to the United States from Europe. Tussock moths often cause extensive damage to trees and orchards.
