Gene Tunney



Tunney, Gene (James Joseph Tunney; 1898–1978), U.S. world heavyweight boxing champion (1926–28). In 1926 he beat Jack Dempsey in the controversial fight of the “long count.” He retired in 1928, having lost only one of his professional bouts.
