Tulip



Tulip, name for plant (genus Tulipa) native to Europe and Asia, grown from bulbs. Cultivated tulips were introduced to Europe via Holland in the 16th century and have become popular spring-flowering garden and pot plants. They have deep, cup-shaped flowers; new varieties are continually being bred. Tulips come in a variety of colors and in some instances in a combination of colors.
