Transsexualism

Transsexualism, condition in which a person has a psychological urge to belong to the opposite sex. People who experience this condition are called transsexuals. In most cases, therapy is not an effective treatment. Surgical techniques in conjunction with certain hormones can be used to make transsexuals physically resemble a member of the opposite sex. Transsexuality is not the same as homosexuality.
