Tourmaline



Tourmaline, hard, complex silicate mineral containing such elements as boron, aluminum, and silicon. Colors include pink, green, blue, yellow, violet, red, and black. Transparent stones are considered semiprecious and are used as gems in jewelry. Tourmaline is found in granites, schists, and crystalline limestone of Brazil, Asia, the former USSR, and parts of the United States.
