Touch-me-not

Touch-me-not, wild flower of the balsam family, related to the impatiens. Its seed pods pop open when touched, hence its name. It grows in damp, shady regions of the eastern and central United States, reaches 3–5 ft (0.9–1.5m) tall, and bears pale yellow or spotted flowers. The pale yellow variety is thought to prevent poison ivy rashes when the juice from its stems and leaves are rubbed on the skin.
