Torsion bar suspension

Torsion bar suspension, system designed to absorb front-end shock in automobiles. There is one torsion bar for each of an automobile's 2 front wheels. One end of the torsion bar is attached to the car's frame. The other end is attached to the axle near the wheel. When the car hits a bump, the torsion bar, which somewhat resembles a straightened spring, twists and then untwists. This movement absorbs the shock and makes the ride smoother.
