Torah



Torah (Hebrew: “law, teaching”), the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible) kept in the ark of every synagogue. In a wider sense it is the whole body of the oral and written teaching central to Judaism and includes the rest of the Hebrew Bible, rabbinic codes, the Talmud, and the Midrash.
