Toad

Toad, name strictly referring only to members of the family Bufonidae, but generally distinguishing warty-skinned, tailless amphibians from smoother-skinned types, which are called frogs. Toads range in size from 1 to 7 in (2.5 to 18 cm). They are independent of water except for breeding, the larvae—tadpoles—being purely aquatic. Most toads feed nocturnally on insects.
