Tiberius



Tiberius (Tiberius Julius Caesar Augustus; 42 B.C.A.D. 37), Roman emperor, successor of his stepfather, Augustus, upon his death in A.D. 14. Tiberius oversaw tax collections and selected capable administrators to supervise his provinces. However, due to unpopular financial reforms and his growing tyranny, he retired to the island of Capri, where he ruled until his death.
