Tern

Tern, or sea swallow, slender, graceful seabird related to, but smaller than, the gull. Terns have a bounding, butterfly-like flight and feed on small fish that they catch by diving from the air. They are found in all seas from the Arctic to the Antarctic and also on some lakes and marshes. They nest on the ground in large, noisy colonies. The Arctic tern migrates from the Arctic to the fringes of the Antarctic.
