Tenant farming

Tenant farming, system by which agricultural land holders, known as landlords, rent land to farmers, known as tenants, to produce crops. Landlords may either collect an agreed-upon payment for rental of the farm land and buildings or they may share other production costs and investments, as well as the harvested crop, with the farmer. This method of farming has been especially successful in the British Isles and the United States.
