Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal, mausoleum built by the Mogul emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz-i-Mahal at Agra in North India. Faced in white marble, the central domed tomb stands on a square block with a minaret at each corner, surrounded by water gardens, gateways, and walks. It took some 20,000 workers over 20 years to complete (1630–50).
