Cornelius Tacitus



Tacitus, Cornelius (c.A.D.55–120), Roman historian. His most famous works are critical studies of the 1st-century empire, the Histories and Annals. A son-in-law of Agricola, of whom he wrote a biography, he rose to consul (97) and proconsul (112) of Asia. His Germania is the earliest study of the Germanic tribes.
