Table tennis

Table tennis, or ping-pong, indoor game played with a ball, rackets (“paddles”), and a net, a miniature version of tennis. The 9-ft (3-m) table on which it is played is laid out like a tennis court, its 5-ft (150-cm) width spanned by a small net over which the players hit the hollow celluloid ball. The game is played by 2 players, one at either end, or by 4 players, as doubles. It originated in England in the late 19th century and is now popular in many countries, particularly in Asia.
