Synoptic Gospels

Synoptic Gospels, in the New Testament, comprehensive view of the life of Jesus according to Matthew, Mark, and Luke, which contain a high level of agreement on subject matter and phraseology. Modern scholars commonly regard Mark as having written his gospel first and suppose that Matthew and Luke also used Q, a now-lost source containing the non-Marcan material common to them.
