Syllogism



Syllogism, in logic, term for a form of argument consisting of 3 statements: 2 premises and a conclusion. The conclusion of a valid syllogism follows logically from the premises and is true if the premises are true. Aristotle first formulated the concept of syllogistic logic that has served as the basis for logical thought in the West for more than 2,000 years.
