Swordfish



Swordfish, or broadbill, large, streamlined food and game fish (Xiphias gladius) of tropical seas, having a swordlike upper jaw. The maximum length is 16 ft (4.9 m); the maximum weight 1,500 lb (680 kg). Swordfish can swim extremely fast and, when hooked, will leap high out of the water. They eat fish that they kill with strokes of their swordlike jaw.
