Suprematism



Suprematism, art movement (1913–19) originated by the Russian-Polish painter Kasimir Malevich (1878–1935), establishing a system of nonrepresentational composition in terms of pure geometric shapes and patterns. The movement's influence on graphic design and typography has been significant.
